"The Profiles pages feature 52 individuals who made significant contributions to the quality of life in Northwest Arkansas. From the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport to the music halls along Dickson Street, your collective legacies have enlightened newcomers and are treasured by those who witnessed your accomplishments."
On April 30, 2001, Schola Cantorum, the University of Arkansas, forty member, classical vocal choir held its Spring Concert at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville. They enlisted the talents of the Jed Clampit Band for a set of classic country songs arranged by noted American composer Norman Luboff. The combination proved to be a winner, as evidence by the standing ovation given by the 500 in attendance.
Jed Clampit: Music That Speaks to the Soul
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--Jed Clampit is the quintessential musical artist. His devotion to his craft is self-evident. It's in the music--the way he feels it, plays it and delivers it to an audience that he hopes will embrace it.
In his own words, Jed makes it crystal clear. "The thing that supersedes everything is a person's soul. I work an audience so that I'm able to reach their soul, no matter if they're 3 or 83. I sing to that part in each of us that is the same--the heart."
From his humble beginnings in Monticello, Arkansas, Jed has traveled cost-to-coast for more than four decades, developing his unique brand of music. He calls it "Front Porch Contemporary"--a perfect name for the warm, welcoming vocals and easy acoustic melodies that have charmed audiences for so many years.
After a sabbatical, Jed is back on tour with big plans for the future. Currently promoting seven albums; Jed Clampit, Mississippi to Arizona, Gotta Keep on Movin', from which he launched his first national music video, "The Local Girl and the Cowboy".
